Program Driven Organisation Guarantees Efficiency to Customers

A new setup – New Program Driven Organization - allows LITEONMOBILE to become more flexible and quicker to deliver new programs & technologies.

To become best-in-class in product creation and program lifetime management, LOM/Perlos has been implementing a new Program Driven Organisation strategy since June.

The new strategy, which is one important step towards LOM’s ultimate goal to grow as a vertical integration supplier, integrates the functions of Global Program Management (GPM), Global Tooling, New Product Introduction (NPI), Assembly Solutions and Project Execution (PEMs, LPMs, PEs) into four teams of the Global Program & Engineering organisation.

Right now the Global Program & Engineering organisation’s central office is located in Guangzhou, China. Each of the four teams (Tooling, Project Operations, Program Engineering and GPM) has clearly defined its roles and responsibilities, and recently announced its organisational structure.

– Under the new structure, the global program manager will have more power to control program execution and exercise full responsibility for Program Lifecycle Management. Furthermore, experts moving closer to the shop floor will help earlier identification of problems and better problem-solving, which will lead to improvements in products delivered to our customers, comments Miguel Stief , Vice President of PM & Engineering.

The new organisational model has already been applied to several pilot programs, and it is estimated that all the programs in the Product Creation phase will follow the new model in the first quarter of 2010.

Based on the design received from the development team, Global Program & Engineering will be fully responsible for the Product Creation and Implementation phase, and will play a supporting role in the mass production phase. Meanwhile, Global Operations, which includes Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Manufacturing Operational Excellence (MOE), will have full responsibility for mass production and will act in a supporting role for the Product Creation and Implementation phase.

– By integrating GPM, Tooling, NPI/NTI, Assembly Solutions and Project Operations under the same umbrella, we will make it easier to get clear responsibility and accountability for the results from Product Creation and Product Delivery, Miguel Stief adds.
