Even though the Beijing Paralympic Games continue through mid-September, the city more or less began returning to normal soon after the 2008 Summer Olympics were concluded. The massive organisation required in staging the games, as well as the huge undertaking involved in constructing the many venues and landmarks, not to mention the attention of the entire world being focused on China during the many days of competition, will stay in the minds of people for a long time to come.
Perlos’ manufacturing facility, being located in the Beijing Development Area, BDA, was also caught up in the flurry surrounding the Olympics. Preparations for meeting the anticipated extra demands brought by the event began at the beginning of 2008. These included, for example, maintaining sufficient inventory levels despite the imposition of traffic restrictions, extending the validity of employees' temporary residential permits and strengthening security.
Companies in the BDA co-operated closely by sharing in logistics related to dealing with the close proximity of the Games, such as transportation permits. Thanks to early risk evaluation and correct actions, manufacturing and operations at Perlos continued without interruptions also during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Over 200 volunteers from Perlos' Beijing plant were proud and happy to attend the Olympic torch relay in the Beijing Development Area.
