LOM expands manufacturing capacity in China

Lite-On Mobile will expand its Beijing plant’s manufacturing capacity. In addition to this expansion in Beijing, LOM is also opening a new manufacturing site mainly focused on metals in Zhuhai, Southern China.

In Beijing, there will be an additional 10,500 sq. m. of operational space. The expansion project consists of two major parts; constructing two new production buildings, and building up new manufacturing processes for metal PVD, LDS antenna & touch panel gluing with A-cover, etc. Existing manufacturing capacity of current capabilities (painting, punching, injection molding and assembly) will also be expanded.

The Beijing building construction will be completed by the end of 2011 and the whole expansion project will be finished by Q1 2012.

"The manufacturing capacity expansion in Beijing is a part of LOM’s strategy to meet our business growth needs and balance the business volume loading within the group", comments Mike Wu , Senior Vice President, Global Operations, Lite-On Mobile Corporation.
At the moment LOM has two manufacturing plants in Beijing. Plant 1 was established in 2003; Plant 2 started in 2006.

New manufacturing site in Zhuhai, China

LOM’s newest manufacturing site will be set up in March in Zhuhai, Southern China. The site starts mass production in Q2, focusing mainly on visual metal technologies.

Total manufacturing space in the first stage will be around 32,000 sq. m. Later on, it will be possible to expand the space to 42,000 sq m. Approximately 600 persons will be employed on the site.

The visual metal investment will include, for example, forging, CNC, anodizing and stamping. In addition to metal processing, there will also be e.g. subassembly line.
