LITEONMOBILE is investing strongly in vertical integration of the elementary commodity areas of mobile device manufacturing. To be able to provide the most competitive package, a lot of thought and action is put into making the distinct commodities the best in the industry.
Antennas as a fundamental element in the smart integration of mechanics and electronics is the first area to be reorganized according to the new philosophy.
Samuli Kohonen was appointed as the Business Creation Unit leader for Antennas, and tasked with the establishment of a new organization to meet the needs of the market.
- We aim to provide an interface that matches customers' organization, to be able to point out the right counterpart in all antenna-related issues from R&D, design and manufacturing within one team, Samuli Kohonen anticipates.
- This will be beneficial in all phases of co-operation: early involvement and close collaboration help in synchronizing roadmaps, finding the best possible solution in antennas integration, and providing visibility to manufacturing and loading.
The Antennas Business Creation Unit will in its final stage employ approximately 20 people. The main functions and key personnel are already in place in this truly global organization: located in Sweden, Finland and China. The BCU organization model will be duplicated in all other main commodity areas in the near future.
In pursuance of building the new organization model, LITEONMOBILE is investing heavily in antenna capabilities. LITEONMOBILE recently acquired a share in the Taiwanese antenna design and manufacturing company Auden. Through this acquisition LITEONMOBILE gained a strong, world-class partner in advanced research, design and measurement.
Complemented by the in-house expert team from Perlos, LITEONMOBILE provides an efficient and professionally skilled team with a long history and vast, focused experience of mobile antennas manufacturing.
A perfect example of LITEONMOBILE's ability to design smart solutions to answer needs from both the miniaturization and efficiency points of view is the Active Switch antenna. The concept of the integrated antenna for mobile phone frequencies has been on the market for some time already, but as a multifunction solution its capability to provide full efficiency at all frequencies is limited. Instead, the new Active Switch antenna concept provides dedicated, accurate frequencies to all GSM and Wideband CDMA networks in one antenna.
- This is increasingly important as there can be more than ten antennas in one device – and yet the devices are getting smaller and smaller, and no one is willing to compromise efficiency and audibility, says Samuli Kohonen.
