Lite-On Technology – an industry leader with green values at heart

Lite-On Technology – the parent company of the Lite-On Group, including LITEONMOBILE – has successfully operated in a wide range of market segments, such as consumer electronics and optoelectronic products, since its establishment in 1975.

With its initial public offering in 1983, Lite-On was the first technology company listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Today, the Group employs over 70,000 people at 40 sites worldwide, and has its global headquarters in Taiwan.

Lite-On has its roots in the Taiwanese LED industry, where the company has ranked number one for the past 30 years. Among its many LED products, Lite-On has a 32% share of the global market for photocouplers. Lite-On is also among the world’s top three manufacturers of switching power supplies. In switching power supply products, the company commands a 40% share of the global market for notebook power adapters. Other key products for Lite-On include projector power supplies, phone camera modules, keyboards, and enclosures.

Lite-On is committed to offering high-quality and innovative R&D-based services and products to its customers worldwide. The Group has also earned significant recognition from foreign institutional investors in recent years. Since 2006, foreign holdings of the company’s shares have increased to over 50%.

Owned by Lite-On Technology, the LITEONMOBILE brand was established in 2008 to cover the offerings of Perlos, Silitech and Lite-On to all major handheld device vendors worldwide.

Paving the way for a greener future

Over the next ten years environmental protection will become one of the most important issues in business. With green design sweeping through the world of industry, Lite-On not only aims at establishing and strengthening its “Green Technology” supply chain, but is also focusing on the aggressive development of its green industrial design capabilities in the future.

As an industry leader, Lite-On is also fully engaged in environmental management to control air pollution, hazardous waste materials and noise during its own design and manufacturing processes.

For this purpose, the Group operates an Environmental Management System (EMS), which helps to define operational procedures for environmental control and to monitor the progress of its implementation.

Green Energy base in China

Last September, Lite-On introduced its new East China Regional Headquarters in the Wujin Hi-Tech Industrial Zone of Changzhou, China. The new regional headquarters also serve as the company’s first Green Energy base. The move not only helps boost Lite-On’s global supply chain management and cost efficiency, but is also expected to facilitate further expansion into the fast-growing green energy market.

– The new facility is one of the most significant investments in China in recent years. All of the facilities, from buildings to production lines, impact on renewable energies in some way, from energy production, conversion, storage and saving, to the reduction of CO2 emissions, notes Raymond Soong , Chairman of the Lite-On Group.
