In 2011 Lite-On Mobile is making large investments in expansions worldwide to serve a growing manufacturing base of customers especially in the Asian markets. This growth-driven approach will ensure that LOM maintains its global leadership position in the forefront of handset and electronic development and manufacture.
LOM Beijing had a major expansion of manufacturing capacity with a groundbreaking in June 2011, and completion projected for June 2012. The expansion includes large additions to two manufacturing buildings, as well as additional manufacturing automation that, once fully deployed, will give LOM Beijing a 35% increase in manufacturing capacity. One of the new buildings is for Injection Molding, Metal Punching & Assembly production and the other is for painting production, with a total manufacturing area of 11,600 sq. m.
Yet another milestone was achieved in India - LOM Chennai celebrated a new building inauguration on July 12th, 2011. The new building realized a total expansion of 14,500 sq. m., mainly focusing on Punching, Assembly and Silitech operations. Silitech belongs to Lite-On Group and produces keymats.
The new manufacturing site LOM Zhuhai is ramping up production in September 2011. The visual metal investment will include forging, CNC, anodizing and stamping. In addition to metal processing, there will also be a subassembly lines.
