Most phones are starting to bristle with features, functions and applications for every need. Even the simplest handsets can meet the high requirements; a new need for differentiation arises.
With features already in abundance, one of the most important differentiations can be found in usability – a good user interface makes even the most complicated functions intuitive and easy. As part of the extended user interface concept, LITEONMOBILE has developed illumination technologies to make the user experience more satisfying.
Light icons on covers, illuminated connectors and decorative and/or informative light bars deliver that much-needed freshness and ease.
Light icons on covers is a technology developed to extend the traditional user interface beyond the display. An ultra-thin, cover-integrated light module featuring nano-photonic light guide technology can be modified to suit almost every design and cover – a 2k solution for depth effect, an IML version for a multitude of finishing effects, a painted or coated surface for lower-end devices, and even metal for top-end handsets. LOM Light guide technology will be available for projects in Q2.
In illuminating plastics, the light effect is generated inside the material, which in practice means almost unlimited design possibilities in form, figure, colour and surface finish of the product. This also means high gloss parts with no need for any special light-scattering surface structures. This technology is already available for light bars. The illuminated connectors – again extending the user interface in a more intuitive direction – will be available in the second half of 2010.
In addition to the user interface, LITEONMOBILE’s optical solutions team has, in collaboration with customer and eco-system partners, developed a new and improved camera flash lens. With improved performance, looks and price, this flash lens takes integration and versatility to a new level. With the integration of unique flash designs into injection-moulded lenses, and soon also sheet windows or even glass, this improved flash is expected to gain momentum rapidly in product programmes.
