Innovative Technologies for Metal Parts

The team behind this metals portfolio is BCU Metals. LITEONMOBILE has Business Creation Units (BCU) for the management of different commodities. The role of these BCUs is to develop, maintain and execute new technologies, product concept creation and industrialization in their own business areas.

Each team member of BCU Metals has over 10 years of experience in their professional area of the metals industry. There are experts from punching, die-casting, physical and chemical plating processes and post-treatment. LOM has metals manufacturing at three sites: structural parts at Guangzhou and Beijing, China and at Chennai, India; while decorative parts are concentrated in Guangzhou.

Seeking new technologies

LOM offers a full range of metal-related products and services; materials selection, forming technology, color decoration, surface texture, durability and assembly integration. The process LOM is offering is a high-yield and cost-effective process for mature technologies. LOM always generates new ideas and innovations from material applications to the decoration process.

– For example, anodizing is the most common process when using aluminum alloy. New innovative technology can add value to this process; we have several new concepts such as ceramication, high gloss anodizing and patterned anodizing, says Michael Chuang, director, BCU Metals.

At the concept stage, LOM can offer its customers an optimized process in terms of technological feasibility, mass production yield and quality. – We are also very experienced at breaking down all the single processes to understand the trends in new technology application, says Michael Chuang.

Decoration portfolio to grow

LOM has really put an effort into decorations. PVD, brushing, blasting, laser decoration, printing, polishing and diamond cutting and other decoration process are all in-house capabilities.

– For other decoration technologies, we are building our own chemical laboratory and it will be soon in use. Some new technologies will be generated by the establishment of this facility. We will also build in-house capability for some challenging processes, e.g. 3-D brushing. Although this process is not a new innovation, we can improve the supply chain and production yield with the in-house set-up, adds Michael Chuang.

– Customers will feel the difference, because LOM will really bring more innovative thinking and strong capabilities in metal part manufacturing from design to production, Michael Chuang promises.
