First Touch Panel Shipments to Customers

Lite-On Young Fast, the joint venture formed by LOM and Young Fast Optoelectronic, started the first touch panel shipments to customers at the end of March. The first product in mass production is a capacitive touch panel.

The start-up of new production facilities has proceeded according to plan; both parties of the joint venture have utilized their best experience in the start-up.

– The synergies have been obvious - our experience and know-how have complimented each other nicely. The start-up has been smooth, and customers have noticed this; so far the customer feedback has been very positive, says Kerwin Yen , Director, BCU Touch Panel.

The first shipments of capacitive touch panels have now started and the production line is working at full speed. During H1 there will be several new ramp-ups, including both capacitive and resistive panels. The second half of the year will also be busy.

– We are well prepared for the quickly growing demand for touch panels. The joint venture has started as we envisaged; production facilities and production itself have already proven their efficiency. We have the capability to utilize the most advanced technologies in production, and with our own R&D team we are able to think beyond the standards and develop more challenging solutions, promises  Kerwin Yen.

The production facilities of Lite-On Young Fast are located at Huizhou in Southern China. Production started up in January and the plan is to expand capacity on a quarterly basis in 2011-2012. At the end of 2011 the capacity will be 5 million resistive panels per month and 2.5 million capacitive panels per month. In addition there are capabilities to produce touch panels for example with a PET or glass sensor. Huizhou’s manufacturing site will employ about 2,000 persons in 2012.
