One of the key targets for Perlos this year has been to enhance its tooling capability and capacity. In addition to the Shenzhen tool shop, Perlos has now built up a new tool shop in Beijing.
“Once it is fully implemented, the new plant will have about 120 employees,” says Eric Ko, Perlos’ Director of Tooling.
The Beijing tool shop is located in the same premises as Perlos' manufacturing plant. Michael Jiao , General Manager of Perlos' Beijing plant, sees the new tool shop as providing a unique and competitive advantage.
“Our local tool-making capacity will enable us to shorten the process by which new products are created in Beijing. Furthermore, it will enable us to respond faster to customer demands and production requirements as they relate to changes in tool development and modification,” states Ko.
“I am pleased to say that we are already seeing improvements in the flow of information and better support in ramp-ups. The close proximity of tooling to manufacturing is also generating benefits in lead times, logistics and maintenance,” he adds.
